Yes, Moxie (Maine's official soft drink) has a day all of it's own. This Sunday, the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kenbunkport, ME will be hosting a Moxie Day celebration. Displays will include numerous pieces of Moxie memorabilia, and plenty of Moxie. The event is sponsored by the New England Moxie Congress. This event marks the 22nd annual Moxie celebration in the state of Maine. Even if you don't like Moxie, it might prove to be worth while to attend. If anything, some of these links show how addicted people in Maine are to Moxie. Scary thought, but there's this kind of following for Coca Cola and Pepsi.

I've seen at least two other trolley museums where the refrigerators deep in the bowels of the shops were stocked liberally with Moxie.

Why wait until Sunday to drink up? The Moxie festival begins tomorrow!!! I made my yearly trek to Maine to stock up a few weeks ago. It's not just the traction guys...... We Moxieites have infiltrated most every facet of the rail preservation world.....

That's true. I'm on vacation in Old Orchard starting tommorow, and we might be going (my younger brother is a Moxieite).

As a Mainer, I can attest, Moxie grow on you. So does athletes foot, and spruce bud worm.
I have inlaws who are addicted to it, and even named their dog "Moxie". Dog's obnoxious, too!

I think you're on to something, RMNE's fridge in the shop has Moxie in it often. I never heard of it before seeing it there. Here I thought it was orange soda when I grabbed my first can.........until I opened it and discovered "burnt rootbeer"!

Psssst! Want to know a secret? Moxie is also bottled at Catawissa Bottling Co. in Catawissa, Pa. Catawissa has been doing so since the 1950's. I'm not sure who drinks it in central Pennsylvania, since Catawissa also bottles and kegs Big Ben's Birch Beer in multiple colors. And -- we've got Yuengling!

I have seen Moxie in the fridge at the RMNE's shop and tried it. It's different. That's all I'll say about it.

Well, come ON, if we're talking afterhours "violations of Rule G," I can offer up everything from Railyard Ale (Wynkoop, Denver) to Railbender Ale (Erie Brewing, Pa.) to Red Trolley Ale (Karl Strauss, Ca.) to Light Rail Ale (Wynkoop again) to various places offering Steam Engine Stout/Lager/etc. (including Steamwworks in Durango) to the late, lamented Narrow Gauge Brewing of Farmington, Maine featuring SR&RL steam on the logo. And I'm ignoring plenty more now gone or from the U.K. .........

(Wayne, I *told* you we shoulda made a run from Wiscasset to Farmington that night while they were still open.....)

Now that Cheerwine stuff is pretty good; kinda like a cherry Doc Pepper. I've usually brought back batches from NC to New England for one of our Yankees who went down to NC for college and returned with an SC bride and a liking for Cheerwine.

Moxie: I've heard it described as a combination of rat poison and paint thinner, and think that's a pretty apt description. "An acquired taste".... um, nope. Yes, it does get stocked by Maine-iacs in Thomaston Shop's fridge.
