I have an interest in finding a few real steam drivers for display in a RR museum.

Does anyone know of any ''just laying around'' that might be available?
It's amazing what turns up in people's back yards...

Over the past few years, the city of Roanoke (Va.) has created a nice display of RR heritage near and on the enclosed cross-walk over the tracks that leads to & from The Hotel Roanoke. Among the displays are steam drive-wheels. Where did these come from, and are there any more to be had?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The "steam locomotive drivers" that are spread around Roanoke were salvaged from a large pile of stuff at Virginia Scrap Iron & Metal, former home of the "Lost Engines of Roanoke". It is believed that most of them are actually from N&W "Squarehead" Electrics that were retired (replaced by new steam) in the early 50's. VMT has some driver patterns from East End Shops on display, if you're interested in some sort of copies, let me know, I can provide contact information

At the Strasburg Railroad along the south side of their one shop is a rough cast drive wheel casting with a crack in it which they may be interested in selling. I assume it is useless as a working part. It could make an interesting display.
