Happy "summers nearly over"- day 2011, everyone.

I just decided that this is what I call the third week in August (or there about) when is 107 degrees and there is no weather relief (rain, low temps, clouds, ) anything in sight that can help lower these temps and cool that blazing hot sun. Only extreme optimism is keeping the state going at this point. Everything is drying up and blowing away here, literally. Its been a tough year for Texas. We have had 2x the highest crop loss totals ever (6.5 Billion so far) , and its all because of super-hot weather and no rain. I'm crazy from the heat by now.

How I long for a cool Fall day, the kind where you really need to wear a thick sweatshirt over a t-shirt to stay comfortable. When I get those few things, I then want to; smell some wood/coal or oil fire burning and smell and hear some steam escaping from a hot locomotive stack, then things could never be better. Creosote, I would then be able to use the smell of some warming up creosote. All that would make for one great day. I can hardly wait to go to that time and space in about two months. I hope you all can go there to!

Notice how vast quantities of hot air from Texas coincide with increased activity of Rick Perry? Kinky Friedman will bring the cool weather you need.

I live in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia; Harpers Ferry is perhaps 50 miles from Washington, DC (and we have commuter trains, too). This summer has been miserable here; wonder how much of it is from Congress?
