Just wanted to move the Coos #10 back to the top so it is not forgotten. Looks like there are workable options as to a location to keep it, there have been ongoing discussions as to a purchase price, moving options, etc. The hang up is a timely source of cash. I'm out of ideas and its more than I care to take on.

Can anyone give a current disposition update for this locomotive?
Are there any recent pics?

Current status is that the boiler is in process of being cut apart on the chassis. Last check the chassis was still untouched. If anyone is interested in recent pictures please PM me.

Hope someone saves the throttle and related parts that might be intact within the boiler. Would think there might be some small parts attached as well that would of been worth the effort. Fire door, steam dome lid. Not sure exactly what was left to save. Sad, but it is the world we live in. If not able to save the entire thing, the parts going to scrap is such a waste. Oh ya, money talks!

Cheers, John.

Several parts of the #10 are now listed on ebay to include the Johnson bar, fire box door, etc. Go to the bellow listing and look at his other listings to see what is there. Doesn't anyone have a spare $17K to just buy the chassis? He seems willing to work with people.

He seems willing to even sell it as a kit of sorts. Wheels, rods, valve gear, block, but minus the frame, if it does not sell as a complete chassis. Just a thought. If it was purchased to just hold on to it and take the time to find a proper home for it that would be helpful.

Ya know.........if somebody interested in development of modern boilers - Wasatch, perhaps - got the intact running gear, they could then work on development of new techniques and designs for everything from staybolts and mud rings through exhaust systems, and have a good original or two running in the PNW to use as a benchmark to determine what improvements did how much good..........

Just thinking. Cheap way to start a laboratory on wheels.
