Found this nice photo of ex-movie star Sierra 18 where it should be today. Have heard the tender to this engine was scrapped is that true?

Didn't Kepner's pick up the 18? Sans Tender, I remember it sitting in Sacramento as an advertising gimick.

Yes, Keppner did pick up the 18. It was stored for many years (sans tender) in the old Champion International truck shop that was to be the Great Western Railroad Museum in McCloud, CA. If my memory serves me right the #18 was trucked from McCloud to join the rest of his collection at Merrill late last year/early this year.

No idea what happened to the tender.

The rest of Keppner's equipment (that which he could move) is stored on two hastily laid tracks that lie between the old truck shop and the McCloud Railway main just east of McCloud. The Weyerhauser/Sierra/Rayonier #38 is there in about 4 or 5 pieces, along with a small burro crane, an old McCloud River crane, a couple NP bunk cars, and some other miscellaneous equipment. I have heard that at some point Mr. Keppner plans to clear entirely out of McCloud.

Happened to go through Merrill Oregon several
weeks ago. Serria 18 is stored there with a
number of other locomotives of Mr. Keppner's
collection. Several of which are looking
pretty sad.

I seem to recall that the engine has been without the tender for a long time. Back in the early 1970s it was listed as being on display at "West Coast Trailer Sales" in Sacramento. I recall seeing a photo at that time and the engine was without its tender.

I read something long ago that the #18's tender was sold to Tidewater Southern for #132 (ex-Sierra 32) after her tender was damaged in a wreck.
