My earlier post on this subjest of line renewal stated about cooperation with the Native Casino(s) as partners.

I think that Mikerowe is right on target. The two states are interested primarily in historical preservation. Operation pays the bills for preservation. This fact will provide the framework for what the new operator is allowed to do. My visit to both railroads left me with the thought that the D&S is a TOURIST railroad while the C&TS is a HISTORIC railroad. If the new operator can expand the tourist part without compromising the historic part, then he will not have any trouble. If he tries to curtail the work of the Friends organization, or comprimise the preservation, I think that the states will push back pretty hard (I hope!).

Good luck trying to rebuild the RR from Chama into Durango, the way the grade has been obliterated by the hiway from immediately east of the Durango yard.
Besides, who's gonna ride it. They have a tough time filling trains between Chama & Antonito.
