When I was a young whippersnapper hanging around Steamtown in between college parties, two gents named Ed made a huge impression on me - Miller and Blossom.

I am sure I only picked up .0001% of their knowledge, but I cherish it.

I first met the two Eds in 1964, before I started college at Bloomsburg. I wound up working for Ed Blossom at the Magee Transportation Museum and Dushore Car Co. on and off for the next dozen years or so. Ed Miller taught me to operate K-control trolleys. Both were great mentors and friends. I miss both of them.

God bless them, they were both one of a kind.

Ed Miller could go from giving you an esoteric fact of a trolley system gone for 50 years to describing a current railfanning photo overlook without missing a beat.

I can't help but lump both Ed's into the same category as the late George Hart and Donald Hallock.... men who forgot more about railroading than I ever learned, yet never - ever - hesitated to spin a yarn or discuss their experiences.

May any RYPN regular have that impact on a child of the future...
