Does it survive?

Still, as far as anyone knows and is willing to say, in a notorious "tomb" in Michigan. Do a search of this forum for rumors/details of said "hiding place"

Gone. Survived into the late 1990s, 2000 or so at Odenton, Md. I personally "inspected" this hulk before its scrapping; it was pretty far modified and gutted, with engine block and generator and all seats gone. This was one of six GEG-275 gas-electrics they had on the property; after a fiery collision in 1940 that killed several passengers in an inferno, three were sold to Aberdeen (Md.) Proving Ground, and others converted to diesel or other duties. Given that 4662, 4666, and 4668 all survive in much better shape than this car did, it was not a great loss.

I think the toll was over 40 people in that disaster.

My dim memory seems to be that WT 57 and one of the PRR 466X motorcars were originally (after the railroads sold them) owned by a RDG engineer named Hugh Jenkins, and were at New Hope about 1970. Correct?

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Mitch -

Thanks for the photo of Pennsy 4666. What are the BR&W's plans for the old doodlebug? Anyone know?

Nothing has changed in the past few years, except that the water tank was installed recently. Anything else would really be speculation.

Carl Hosler has been chipping away at 4666 lately and has recently upgraded the layover heater and is now working on the Hamilton's water holding tank. The Hamilton does run.

This past summer some additional sheet metal work was done and has been making good progress.

Also sad to see the condition the baggage cart is in.... looks like it has fallen on hard times too.
