And the fourth is working on a 97/3025 feature for a magazine who will remain nameless for the time being.

Great Job, my hat's off the the Valley Railroad. Has anyone else thought about "kit bashing"QJ’s JF’s or SY's? Would be interesting what shorelines would come up with if they Americanized (or Canadian ed) these locomotives.

From time to time I've about the million dollar restorations of 100 year old locomotives happening these days. I think that what Valley RR did with the SY would be the way to go in thinking that in the end you would have a locomotive that would last many decades.

I also wonder if there will ever be a time when boilers are simply given a condemnation age. Having a newer Chinese locomotive would keep steam alive if that happened.

I've suggested we need several to replicate some Virginian Railway MB 2-8-2s. This was a relatively small and older locomotive on a road known for huge power, but if the late H. Reid's commentary about them over the years is true, they were a beloved little workhorse on that road.

Last Sunday, the 27th I ventured to Connecticut to see 3025. She wasn't working the afternoon Santa trains, but 40 was, and when 40 was ready, she went over to move 3025 to the pit area for servicing to be ready for the evening Polar Express trains. A brief double header ensued:

The Valley operates the North Pole Express,which is a very different product.
