Accoridng to the article, Robert Spaugh, an ex-NYC Painter, and former President of the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society is heading up the project. I have to say I was priviliaged to use NYC 3001 in January 2011 as a focal point for a night photo shoot. Does anyone have any contact information besides thru the museum?

I can't wait to see her come out looking like she was just delivered to the NYC Complete with her elephant ears.

Contact me off list if you want more information. Bob Spaugh is one magnificent fellow, that's for sure!

When talk of an operational restoration first began there was a lot of chatter about the museum, the City of Elkhart, and the mayor and the need to convince them to allow it to happen. According to this article, the title to the engine rests with the Lakeshore Railroad Historical Foundation. So was all that mayor & city talk just meaningless uninformed blather?

Indeed, a great bit of it was. There are terms to the lease agreement of the LRHF to the city that make LRHF the major player in the locomotive's future.

Best,
