It appears that the 10 section lounge observation car at Orlando's Church Street Station was originally named "Monte Rosa" and was built in 1926 to plan 3521-A. It was in lot 4923. According to Bob Wayner, it was a pool service car that was sold to Central of Georgia in 1948 or 49. C of G turned it into an instruction car and re-named it "Progress".

This is currently all we know about the car so if anyone has further knowledge, I would sure appreciate you sharing it. I suspect that it was transferred to Southern Ry ownership when SR absorbed C of G in 1963 so it could be that SR sold or donated it to someone. Also, any photos of the car under Pullman, C of G, SR or other ownership prior to Church Street Station would be great.

This is the first of the three cars to move to the Florida RR Museum and it is scheduled to move very early Wednesday morning.

At the Illinois Railway Museum's Pullman Library we have passenger and freight car builders information to assist the rail community, over a million drawings total for example. The passenger car specs start at 1903 (lot 2900) nearly to the end of production, drawing lists, and construction drawings (seldom any later modifications) including floor plan for most of them, photo negatives starting in the 30's that interleave with what is available now at the Smithsonian. Contact us off list or on the new email found on the IRM web site with a specific request for information and we will be happy to assist. Please keep in mind we are all volunteers and do our best with the volume of inquiries but depend on orders to keep the lights on, the air conditioning running and restoration ongoing to make ever more available!
