As I type this out, the Amherst Railway Society Train Show at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA is slightly over 24 hours away from opening. While dedicated to model railroading, many preservation groups and scenic railroads will be present, along with photographers and publications. Some of the groups include:
Railroad Museum of New England
Valley Railroad
ALCO Historical and Technical Society
Friends of the East Broad Top
Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley NRHS
Lerro Productions
Wiscasset,Waterville & Farmington
Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum
Seashore Trolley Museum
Precious Escapes Photography
Danbury Railway Museum

There's many others, to many to easily list in a reasonable amount of time, so here's the list of those groups that will be in attendance.

This week has been going by to slowly... Thankfully it's the home stretch. This is the first time I'm volunteering to help with a project of this magnitude, so the wait has been killing me (and Xbox doesn't cut the mustard when compared to this show). Here's to a good weekend!

Dylan,

Hope to see you at some point tomorrow. I'll probably be wearing a blue C&O T-shirt with a line drawing and spec card for the C&O Greenbrier on the back. I will be hanging out at the Pioneer Valley Live Steamers display when not drifting around the show. Look me up.

I'll do my best! Not sure if I'll be near the Pioneer Valley Live Steamers table yet. I'll know what exactingly I'm doing once I get there. As for me... Just look for the kid with a volunteer badge and either a black fedora or a Boston and Maine "Minuteman" baseball cap.
And as of now, it's 11 hours and 35 minutes to show time.... I just can't believe I'm doing a minute by minute countdown...

Day 1 report:
I got to the show around 9 this morning, and I was sent to assist with the layout raffle in the Mallory Building. After about an hour, I had the chance to go walk around, and ran into some familiar faces and known personalities, including Lee Carson, Rob Gardner, Otto Vondrak, Bill Willis, Russel Buck, and Doug Moore. I left early so my mother, who was gracious to transport me today, would be able to avoid as much traffic leaving the parking lot as possible. I'm heading out early tomorrow to help with the pre-show setup, and will have to leave around 11:30, as my mother has to help with the Girl Scout Cookie Drive start-up. I would also like to share this picture of a speeder (a term I use lightly because of it's massive size compared to most speeders I've seen) that was on display outside door 7 at the Better Living Center. I'm curious to who made this massive speeder. Reminds me more of a small school bus...

Day 2:
Sadly, I wasn't able to stay all day today. I got to the show about an hour before opening so i could help with some per-show setup. Like yesterday, I was helping sell raffle tickets. The only difference today is that we were selling those raffle tickets like hotcakes once the doors opened. Maybe that's because we improved on signage when compare to yesterday when we started. Overall, an excellent show this weekend. Now the wait for next year's show begins...
