Mr. Death,

Did you make a bona-fide offer to purchase one of the now cut up pieces?

With regard to the Baldwin, just because it you may not have heard of it, does not mean that it did not happen. There is absolutely no reason to doubt the veracity of Mr. Goldfeder's assertions.

David Wilkins

I never saw it listed in any publication or any broker.

Where do they advertise things for sale? I'm still kind of pissed they cut up the AS-616 last year, along with several other pieces on site.

Well, it's kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand, they did publish it pretty widely back in 2009. On the other hand, I did not recall them seeing results. There can be reasons not to announce results, as private owners often want to remain private. However there is no reason not to admit the unsold items, so that late interest can be expressed.
Well, there's a reason and it relates to traditional auction practice, which ties back to pure capitalism: you don't want buyers seeing your hand. But this doesn't apply to our situation as nonprofits with a preservation mission.

For instance I am curious about the GP35.

As far as I know, they never advertised anything.

What became of the Great Northern tender?

It, and at least one other piece listed on OMR, are listed as 'sold' now.

The GP35 already left, although I don't remember where it went. The fireless GLC, USA 7765, SP bay window caboose, Soo Line business car (original topic of this thread), and the SLSTA observation "Bluebonnet" also left a while back (as well as the SEPTA trolley I believe). The RS-1 and the FM have been scrapped, along with the Monon business car. Another passenger car (possibly the Frisco car) left as well. The Marc 66 E(8) (though not really an E8 today) is also in line to leave, and I've been told is going to Iowa Pacific (SLRG reporting marks). As for the rest of the stuff I didn't mention, most of it (if not all) is still there. I will get a more detailed list this weekend.

By the way, I don't ever remember an AS-616 being here (let alone it being scrapped). What's the story?

I have official MOT rosters from 2003 and 1980 and there is no Baldwin AS616 listed.

The AS-616 was a former O&NW unit of SP origin that was stored in OR. Supposedly the SP was going to move it to the MoT but was absorbed by UP who nixed the idea due to the solid ('friction') bearings. More information here.
