Here's a two bay hopper on someone's personal railroad called the "Langsford RR" in New York state. I've found a couple partial shots of the hopper behind the Alco but no other information.

Here's a shot of 2 hoppers at Durbin, WV, they appear to both be 2 bay.

Ryan -

This car was previously mentioned and has been entered on the list of surviving standard gauge 2-bay open top hopper cars but your posted photo now makes me wonder if it really is. Certainly there are no hopper car doors, but they may have been removed some time in the past. There does seem to be evidence of an open door on the bottom of the car. Also, note that the body ends are slightly recessed from the ends of the car. The reported age of the car (1910) and its arch bar trucks, makes me think that the car might actually be a sloped-end high sided drop bottom gondola of some type. For now, I wouldn't say that the car needs to be removed from our list, but perhaps someone with a better knowledge of Frisco equipment might be able to advise us about the car and how it was classified on the SLSF.

Thanks for finding this photo. This is another reason why RyPN is such an important historic tool.

Looking at Bing maps' birds eye view, there seems to be a field of boxcars just southeast of the Alco display. Property has many truck trailers, but the boxcars stick out. Two look to be Rock Island blue.

Any locals have the scoop? Was that site Ed Winters' main base?
