Howard, what would the original paint scheme have been on the 1110? Searching the Fallen-Flags web site I could only come up with a 1956 image of sister 1111. Would the SW1's have been delivered black with red stripes on the nose? Minuteman herald on the cab? Or did that come later?

Nice shot of the "four aces". Note the early radio gear on the hood ahead of the cab. This was the third member of the group (1109, 1110, 1111) that were the first 567s east of the Hudson River; they were delivered in mid-November 1939. The original paint was solid black, white square herald (the Minuteman dates from 1944), white number right under cab window. The 1111 photo shows how the three looked in the 1950s, before being sold by B&M. 1111 became the parts unit at M&B and was cut up in mid-1970s in Montpelier.

The B&M's postwar SW1s (and possibly the 1940 order as well) had the horizontal red/silver nose stripes as delivered.

What is the story on the blue brick coupled to it? Is that unit slated for preservation?

The E-33 is spoken for.

Supposedly and perhaps somewhat incongruously it was/is to go to IRM. As the model is already represented in both north and south museums I can't see anything wrong with this one joining the NYC S motor and the GG1 at IRM.

Hold on a minute.

The one at RR Museum of New England--the one in the photo in question--IS the "model represented in [a] north museum". Only two were saved, one in VGN at Roanoke/VMT and this one.

So this would mean basically NO New Haven electrics saved anywhere near NH turf? Or is there a stray EP-5 "Jet" or something hidden in a barn I don't know about?

Sorry; I'm probably just confused trying to keep track of the numbers changes. I thought there was a third.

No EP-5's survive today.

The only "electric" locomotives in the RMNE collection would be the dual mode FL-9. There are 3 of them preserved there.

Let's hope the SW-1 finds a good home, hate seeing things scrapped that have promise, but time will tell.

Given that B&M #1127 is still hauling revenue freight on the L&S (while #1126 apparently waits for her next call to service on the O&H) I would like to think #1110 has quite a bit of value left in her.

So apparently this unit has been sitting there for a while. Why wait until the very end to make it available and give a 90 day deadline to remove? Couldn't it have been placed for sale a year ago and give prospective purchasers time? Not many rail groups have hoards of cash that they are sitting on and locomotive movers on speed dial!

It had been slated to go to a regional group as of 10 months ago. We were notifed a few weeks ago that they cannot take it. 3 months is a litttle longer than 2 or 3 weeks, which some "rescue me" appeals have had for time limits.

We're doing the best we can.
