Trucking passenger cars, a look at a project I am working on

I have been involved with this project since the beginning, we ended up having to truck several passenger cars. I have been given permission to post these, but I will not fill in any info on the project. This car has already arrived at the end of it's over the road portion of the trip.

I have a video of the car leaving that I will post later.

Looks like some equipment Ed Ellis bought at Carolina Southern, IMHO. The Waccamaw Coastline Purple on the old office car, and the Conway Depot (?) in the background tend to give it away. One would assume that Carolina Southern won't have bridge repairs made any time soon?

My God, either the car's made of neutronium or you've got a low-weight bridge to cross.
Any idea why so many axles are being used?

Car weighs 100K, I did not set up the truck, but I think it had something to do with some bridges they were going to have to cross between point A and B.

No, the car in question is a former Illinios Central observation car. See earlier thread:

The PRR Trainphone system used much thicker "pipes" set higher. I believe what we may be looking at on this car is nothing more than an old radio antenna for the lounge's radio.

It's the pintsch gas system for the car's lighting.

In the June, 1971 Amtrak wreck on the Illinois Central RR, some of the derailed passenger cars had propane gas cylinders. Maybe this was of the same type?

If the cars had Waukesha ice engines, or utilized propane for cooking (both of which were common in the pre-Amtrak era), it is entirely possible.

Definitely the old radio antenna. Last time I saw the Calumet Club in Alamosa ('08-ish) it had a very similar one. Must have been common to IC cars?

That type of antenna was used commonly for AM broadcast antennas for lounge cars. I repaired one on a heavyweight Pullman lounge car (Western Pacific #653). The radio was one that operated on 32 volts DC that was sold to farmers who only had wind power on their farms. It used some unique 32 volt filament tubes.

Is it not cheaper to jack up a carbody than to crane it?
