I have for sale some Alco 539 parts for the 1,000 hp. engine. We are scrapping 2 engine/generator sets. If you have any parts needs, then contact me within the next week. I have been given the opportunity to remove parts, then the scrapper will be taking the rest of the engines.

Hi, We may be interested in some components, if they are useable on our locomotive (251 powered) Do you know what series the generators are? I'm not sure if the turbos are interchangeable, if they are we wouldn't mind a spare. I'll get with my foremen on any other stuff we might be interested in.

As built, they would be different. I do think that late in the game ALCO offered a turbo retrofit for the 539T that might have been the same as the 6-251. I do know that the Bucchi (sp?) was not used on the T-6.

Thanks ETA, The main generator on a T6 is a GT584. I'm mainly looking for one of those as a spare.

While there was/is a Alco turbo replacement for the Bushi used on the 539 engine, it will not work on the 6 cylinder 251.

The Alco replacement is a Model 39. The T6 or the 6 cylinder 251 uses an Alco 320 turbo.

There may or may not be some casing parts that are interchangeable. The Alco Model 39 off the 539 engine has many of the same casing parts as the Alco 520/720/510 turbo. The rotor, nozzle and difusser ring are different.
