New ATSF 3415 Video

The featured a video about the restoration of 3415 on RFDTV's "Trains and Locomotives" tonight. It was very interesting. Showed all the hard work that went in to the restoration. Good Job!!!

The original railroad who owned what is now the A&SV was the Rock Island. I do believe that the Katy operated this track briefly after the Rock shutdown but not for long. The other railroad was the Santa Fe, now the BNSF. I believe a derailment took out the diamond after abandonment but before the A&SV took over. The BNSF isn't necessarily against having the diamond put back in, I believe, but the insurance they require is astronomical. So, actually, they are against putting it back in.

Wish I had more time and lived just a tad closer. I would love to help out more often.

Those monster drivers just knock me out! How fast will your trackage allow her to run? I recognize the issues written of earlier, but wouldn't she rock at high speed on welded ribbon rail, say through Flagstaff?

If they were to take her as far west as Flagstaff, they might as well go another 90 miles and hit Grand Canyon!

Thanks for the answer to my question. I had forgotten I asked it and had to go back and look up when I had submitted it. The date was May 13, 2009, almost three years ago! Well, the important thing is that I got the answer. Thanks very much. And thanks to Jeff Lisowski for starting the thread up again. The 3415 is one really neat restoration and seems to be one that a lot of us tend to forget about. The boys at the A&SV should really be proud of their accomplishment!
