Looks great, Kelly! I always love seeing the reports from your shops. Just out of curiosity, does Strasburg have a water jet cutting machine, or was that job done by another company with the tool?

Re: the Cagney wheels. Which one is the failed one and which one is the new cut? How do you simulate the contours and surface texture?

Great to see these updates and the fine work turned out there.
You are better off using the continuous cast bronze for you safety valves. Quality is much more consistent. Do you use the foundry in Omaha?
We used continuous cast for the crown brass on 1522 on the rebuild, had them bore the center hole off center.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us what the Strasburg Rail Road is doing. This is not an easy group when it comes to comenetary , so I greatly appericate it! You guys do such outstanding work! You make us jealous at the Nevada Northern :-)

Currently the Railroad Museum of Long Island(owner of 39) is trying to obtain a 2 million dollar donation for the completion of Engine 39. In this economy I don't see this happening any time soon. For now she is in storage outside of the Strasburg shop

It has been my understanding (based upon all "available" ASME & NBIC documentation) that pressure retaining parts of a locomotive boiler must be constructed of SB-61 (C922), where is the specification for C954 found?
I have heard of a "modified" C954 which has a bit more lead in it for the sake of machinability (which in my mind would make it a different alloy number, but I am told no) . Having serviced Burg valves I can say that the particular alloy of aluminum bronze being used machines a good deal easier than rough stock I have used in the past....from the same foundry in Omaha. So, is it a modified version of the alloy?

If there is a Disney Locomotive at the Burg and if I have friends in Disney management whom have educated me(and perhaps enlightened on interesting projects) on many ways WDW does business , then it might make sense for me to say that anytime Disney outsources work the company doing the work must sign a confidentiality contract. As such, no one from the Burg would say anything in such a hypothetical situation..... Not even one of their employees who I have known since about 2001.....

Out of curiosity, because the main mission of the 39 will be to educate the public of steam locomotion, would RMLI be within the scope of some education grants?
