The best I can remember hearing was that it ran during the railfan weekends in 1977-79.

Last I knew, she's inside, along with many of the other ones, because they've just had their asbestos lagging removed and are waiting to be repainted.

Not. The locomotive was abated and ultimately will get a full cosmetic restoration.

Cheers, Jason

I asked about her this past week, and was told there are no plans to rehab the 0-4-0T, although the shop crews are constantly discussing which they'd attack if money and time were not issues of reality. I had a wonderful tour around Baldwin 26, and the the metal was still hot from welding. Ultimately, the current projection is to have the CNR Mike, the CPR 4-6-2, the Baldwin 26, and B&M 4-6-2 as the running fleet. The others will get attention as time allows.
Incidentally, those who have no been to Steamtown in a year or two, will be pleased to see much track work, rebuilds on passenger cars, repainting of locomotives, and updated displays.
As much as it annoys me to see Diesels on the property, they are likewise, in excellent condition, and at least represent the transition era.

Steamtown talk is that they would like a tank engine but with the nearly the same traction effort as #26.

I had heard somewhere that the CPR 4-6-2 might not be returned to service. Any truth to that one?

Last I heard, the plan was to not start her 1472 until 26 and 3713 are finished. Given the rate of production up there (not that I'm complaining; better it be done thorough), it'll probably be a long while before we see 2317 running again.

Again, I was told that her 1472 would begin after 26 was completed, since 3713 is under the control of a private contractor.

Speaking of the 2317, when was the last time she received this type of overhaul? Late 90s/early 2000s?
