In looking at the facility via google earth, http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cotton+be ... CDIQ_AUoAg , I noticed what looks like a wheel shop on the grounds.

What is the story here? The museum is in the former backshop but what is the building on the other side of the transfer table pit surrounded by an incredible number of wheel sets?

Thanks, Jason

Gunderson/Greenbriar wheel shop. According to my copy of the shops layout plan, in 1960 when it was still a Cotton Belt shop, it was also a wheel shop then as well.

Does the museum see any revenue from the wheel shop or does the wheel shop own the land it sits upon?

The UP owns both buildings (and the yard to the east, and tracks to the south). The museum/city leases the building from the UP, I assume the wheel shop does the same.
