Gentle Forum Members,

I invite you to view a recent interview and feature article, (Thursday, June 28, 2012), from the Riverhead News Review newspaper. It outlines our plans for a nationwide, grassroots fundraising campaign beginning in 2013. Your thoughts, comments and support are welcomed.

$2,000,000.00? Pffft, that's chump change people. Especially in this day and age of being connected through social networks. I'll give $10.00. And I'll post your campaign on my Facebook page asking for my friends and family to donate $10.00 as well.

But just as a side note, I read an article in Trains or some other rail related publication that outlined how the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust over in England raised the funds for their project. They started a "pint a week" club. The idea was that if you were willing to spend a few dollars on a beer every week then you might be willing to spend a few on replicating a steam locomotive. They had people sign up and promise to give something like $2.50 a week for the next year. That created a constant flow of income for them that allowed for the project to never lose steam. I've always thought that it was a great idea and one that we should be using over here in America. I'd be willing to join a club like that and I'm betting a bunch of others would as well.

Just a thought

Thank you Mike,

For the kind words and the suggestion. It may come to pass as we are still organizing our efforts for 2013. All comments are welcome.

Best,
Don
