Looks like the odds of EB&L #5 steaming at Clarks Trading Post this weekend have gone up. I drove past today and #5 was fully assembled with a new paint job and fresh graphite on the smokebox. Two months ago it was sitting in pieces. The Heisler was out of the enginehouse and already has a banked fire cooking. Not sure if #5 will steam, but it should be an interesing weekend in any case.

How is she painted, something approximating her historic EB&L scheme, or in Clark's White Mountain Central colors? Guess I'll find out on Saturday when I get there. Either way it should be great to see her back in steam. Here's a shot of her from the '99 steam-up.

Well I only saw it from the road, the saddletank and cab are still black (I forgot to notice if there was still lettering on the saddletank). The smokebox is graphite grey and it looks like they added some yellow or gold trim. For all I know it may have had a banked fire going too (however the Climax didn't) but there were cars behind me and I had to speed up before I could get a really good look. The gas mechanical was sitting out but didn't look in the best of shape (again, hard to tell). I couldn't see the Porter or railbus.

Change of plan, it looks like it's going to be Sunday that I'll be getting up there. Anyone else from the board planning to be there this weekend?
