North Lake is now home to Mid-West Locomotive & Machine Works, and as a rebuilding contractor has equipment come and go. Not sure exactly what all's there right now. I do know WP&Y 69 is currently there. I don't think much of the old Kettle Moraine tourist equipment is still around.
Someone from Mid-West Locomotive & Machine Works posts here sometimes, maybe they can give you a better answer.

Kind of surprised to see Prairie #9 still on the property. I thought I had read that the 2-6-2 was going to some other location. Also, there was a 2-6-2 in pieces on flat cars on the last weekend of Kettle Moraine service. Can you confirm that this engine has indeed been moved out?

Thanks!

Baldwin 2-6-2, former Lee Tidewater Cypress #16 was sold to a private individual in the Chicago area.

What are the plans for the equipment left from the tourist operation? I understand some was sold at auction.

Herb,

Any chance you could give us an update on your museum? There has been a lot of news and rumors lately about equipment you have acquired, or are possibly acquiring. The website I have for your museum hasn't been working for quite some time.
Any info would be appreciated.

The Soo Line RPO's body has been given to a near by business for storage. The truck and hardware where salvaged for another car. All remaining equipment on the property is privately owned, waiting for restoration in our shop, or waiting for the owners to remove them. Heisler #3 and the DL&W coaches are currently operating at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay (ther web site has the 2004 schedule allready posted).Caboose # 01265 was the only piece of rolling stock sold at the auction.

With the recent discussion and exchange of accurate information about the current status of the former Kettle Moraine Valley Railway, I thought it would be a good time to ask about the rolling stock. Earlier posts in this thread indicate that some interesting and potentially significant was on the property when operations ceased. Where is this equipment now?

Well it's in my nature to throw this out there but heisler # is NOT operating at the National railway museum..She is in Alamosa Colorado in need of some major cylinder and rod work after an incident on the copper spike railway in Arizona. When fixed it will go to operate at the national railway museum BUT this wont be for a while. It is still privately owned.
Could you tell me the LS&I #21 situation?
Also why not have #9 operate elsewhere?
And do you by chance mean WP&Y #61? #69 is in alaska operable on their line, didn't hear it moving out for repairs so could you clear that up?
And if you look on my topic about the Kettle Moraine shop, someone says #16 went to washington. Seems we need a straight answer.

Hyde, you have your steamy requests on another thread, mostly. I think what Thomas is asking is where are:
Quote:
GNRY coach 3497, CB&Q coach 7011, CMStP coach 3616, CMStP caboose 1265, C&SRY hopper car, D&RG box car 3096, CB&Q flat car, CMStP&P box car, MSC&C 65ton GE, US air force 43ton Davenport

There were also two Lackawanna Boonton coaches (open platform steels) that after about 5 years at NRM in Green Bay, went to the Virginia and Truckee. They wear the same yellow with green trim in service, which happens to be virtually the same as a historic V&T color combination.

The hiesler #3 was moved to Green Bay and operated some in 2003 and 2004 along with the DL&W coaches. It was moved to Globe AZ in the winter of 2010 and had a 1472 day inspection done. The locomotive lost a main rod strap and broke the cylinder head on the right side. It was moved to Alamosa in February of 2011. Some disassemble work was done on it last fall.

The LS&I 21 is privately owned and is slowly having work done on it to restore it.

The McCloud River Railroad #9 is in need of a 1472 day inspection before it could run again.

The WP&YR #61 was brought back from Alaska in 2005. It was dumped in the Skagway river in 1949 as riprap. In 1988 it was dug up and drug back to the yard in Skagway. At present it has been striped done to its frame and cylinder. Once it is moved to Colorado it will slowly be restored as time permits

The Lee Tidewater #16 was moved to Elgin, IL then was moved again to Washington.

Presently still stored at North Lake are:
CB&Q coach 7011, CTH&SE box converted to a open air car, C&S USRA 55ton 2 bay hopper car, D&RGW narrow gauge box car 3696, a Q&TL narrow gauge flat car, a LS&I flat car, a cut down CB&Q 50' box car, a Davenport 35 ton 0-4-0 gas mechanical, LS&I 21, McRRR #9, WP&YR #61.

Mr. Butler-

Where did that GE go from Milwaukee Solvay and Coke? Was it sold, or scrapped?
