Does anyone know if the owner of the defunctional kettle moraine valley railroad still work on Mccloud #9? Also what about Lee Tidewater Cypress Co. No. 16? I solved my mystery as to why her boiler was in oregon at the ORHF site in 2009. As told to me by a volunteer it was just stored there till it was sent to an undiclosed location. Is that the KMVR? Furthermore does anyone know what happened to LS&I #21? Thanks

The following info is from steamlocomotive.com:
McCloud #9 is listed as being operational at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay.
Lee Tidewater #16 is listed as being on display at the Kettle Moraine.
And LS&I #21 is listed as being owned by a Michael Goodell of Augusta, Wisconsin and is under restoration.

I believe #9 is not at the NRM because no signs show it is. i've heard its still in the shop.

#9 never went to NRM, and most certainly never operated there. Still in the shop in North Lake.

The McCloud River Railroad #9 is still stored in the former Kettle Moraine Railwayshop at North Lake.

The Lee Tidewater #16 was sold in 2010 and moved to Washington.

The LS&I 21 is still stored on the property.

The White Pass & Yukon #61 is stored in the Shop as well but hopefully will be mov3ed to Colorado next spring.

The #16 is privately owned and the owner may not wish to have its location disclosed.

Just out of curiosity, why the interest in so many different steam locomotives? Are you compiling some sort of list? Web site development?

Oh okay i respect that, thanks brian! To answer your question, I love all steam from 0-4-0s to 4-8-8-4s to logging locomotives. I just love steam locomotives and it's always nice to here restoration talk on new projects and what not. I have a website but thats for my model railroad and the business that goes along with that. I take the info I recieve and inform it to anyone asking. Thats generally why I post so much because I try my best to find the answers for people or just my sake as well.

I have not kept track of the location of the #16 since it went to the west coast.

The owners of the #21 are doing some work to the locomotive. I believe they are presently building a new tender under frame in Milwaukee.

I do own the #61. I have built a shop to work on it in, as time and money premit. I do not have a plan for it once it is finished. That is a long way off.

thank you steve! Is #9 still in need of a 1472? a good railroad for her to run on is the mid continent! So are you implying that you plan to restore #61? Didn't think that was even possible.

McCloud #9 was at Mid-Continent once...and there are reasons why it left in the first place. Mid-Continent has more locomotives that they need to take care of first, before they should ever think about getting more...

Will be neat to see what happens next in the saga of #9. I remember very clearly, standing on the platform of the North Lake depot, next to the Heisler, watching #9 come into the station with the last trip of the day. Wasn't more than a few years later that they shut down....

Reall?! Did not know that! Well they are getting back on their feet after a massive flood and a decade without steam power. they are very far along with #1, #2 and #1385. They are doing a wonderful job. I would just like to see photos inside the shop at north lake and see #9, #21 and #61.

The McCloud #9 was at North Freedom from 1967 to 1971. It was moved to North lake to start the Kettle Moraine Railway at that time.
