It appears that the "wayback machine" was applied to someone who questioned the use of the word "miraculous" regarding the restoration of this locomotive. Hey, it's just a word, not meant to suggest a deity played a role in this. What is terrific-maybe miraculous-is that, despite the prevailing reality or conventional wisdom that only cubic $ can get steam running and keep it running, this locomotive was brought back to life (oops, not trying to invoke religion!). I volunteer at a major transportation museum (name withheld) which has all but thrown in the towel on operating steam, so all the more kudos to the CNJ 113 folks!

Appreciated. I got a little heated, I will admit, and I apologize for it. I, too, am glad that she has finally returned to steam.

Howdy Folks,
Now the the 113 is just about ready for service, is there any news on where she might run? Will she run on the branch out of Minesrville? Great job to the 113 group and good luck! David Notarius, London UK, ex New Hope Pa

"CNJ 113 maiden voyage" --> http://youtu.be/K-rKYhmG1gk

I see more info coming down the tack - stay tuned!

Congrats to the crew of RR Project #113!

I was very elated but too tired to post last night. We never announce these things because one never knows what can go wrong and we did have compressor problems. We had one volunteer who was knowledgable enough to run a hose to our 120 ton compressor and back up Reading and Northern diesel's MU air connection to 113's main reservoir. Everything else went well.

I guess words went out locally that we were preparing for a move, so people started gathering. When we moved out to the branch line, one can see on the video that a number of Project 113 volunteers (myself included) and significant R & N personnel were aboard the locomotive.

Still don't ask what we are going to do with her because if there are any plans, I am not aware of them but at this time, I would guess that anything we do would be in coujunction with the Reading and Northern Railroad. We are not planning any type of tourist railroad at this time.

I probably could go on and on about this event, but the video says it all. I would assume there will be more videos from other points of view. I would like to thank the person who shot this video for sending it to our email address through Youtube services.

Hi Guys. Great Job! Never thought I’d see the day when a restored CNJ locomotive was under steam running. Lets hope the 113 folks will find or build a place to keep her under cover in the near future. Nothing like a roof to keep the rain and snow off and a warm secure shop to work in. Maybe see her in Steamtown next year? Have fun – David Notarius, London UK, ex New Hope Pa

Good job guys! Now we just need to see some CNJ coaches behind it, and I know of a place, conveniently enough also in PA, that has a few (hint hint)

Good to see her running! Did you fire her on coal or wood this time?

113 was burning 100% locally mined clean burning anthracite nut coal.

Kudos to all on the 113 project.
The proof is in the steaming!

Now for the place to stretch her legs.

But that place already has too many steam engines lined up for 2013. Or was it they had no steam lined up what so ever?
