Once HVRM gets the 2789 under their belt - restored and running, then another engine would be appropriate.

It's like the buffet rule from when we were all younger, don't take more than you care to eat........

HVRM has no plans to restore the 2789 to operating condition. I would like to see it happen, but it ain't gonna. There are good reasons. The trains we operate run to English Lake (about 4 and half miles) or to La Crosse (about 10 miles). Neither run would be appropriate for a Van Sweringen 2-8-4. The costs just to fire it up would be prohibitive. So, we are working on a cosmetic restoration for the Kanawha. A smaller steamer would be better. Will one ever end up at Hoosier Valley? It's doubtful. But, one can always hope!

Hi Guys, I think the SNCF 141R's are all spoken for. If you're looking for some smaller locomotives, check out the "Last Chance to save some American Veteran" subject on here. Some of the Greek locomotives may have already been scrapped, but at last reports, the US locomotives (2-8-0's 2-8-2's and 2-10-0's) as still up for grabs in Turkey. Time is running out for these engines, even if they are used to trade for other locomotives in Parks or Museums that are restorable. Have fun - David Notarius, London UK - Ex New Hope PA

One thing I like about the British railroad museums. Is there is not as much regionalism BS. American railroad museumes would be wise to realize a Japanese bullet train is far more intresting to Joe public than a grain hopper from 1946 that searved the loceal mill.
