Neat model! I've got the C&O 614 in Daylight colors.

The model of C&O 614 in Daylight colors was a rare promotional item for the announced "Daylight Express" to be operated by C&O 614. 614's owner had put together the idea to use 614 hauling a train of daylight cars all over America. It was to bring soldiers from the invasion of Grenada home. The daylight paint scheme was chosen to symbolize a new day for the people of Grenada.

The target date for the Daylight Express was supposed to be 1984, but apparently has been indefinitely delayed, awaiting sponsorship.

Have you ever seen a Tyco GG-1...with 6-wheel EMD trucks? I think those came painted for Penn Central and Union Pacific. They were lovely choo choos.

My memory says they were Alco three-motor trucks...... Tyco just shoved a different cover over the frame and motor for the Alco Century "Super 630", complete with fuel tank (according to some websites I'm looking at, they did that for the EMD E units as well!).

That's not a fuel tank, that's where the Pyranol is stored....

It may be of interest to know that there was a Lima rendition of a streamlined C&O 4-8-4. The most interesting thing was that the engine was actually a Southern Pacific GS-2 or GS-3; my guess is that the Lima people were using a streamlined engine they had built as a template to look at colors and patterns rather than an accurate rendition of the proposed locomotive.

There's no "electric punk" that I know of, but at least one person in the "diesel punk" school is eclectic enough to include electrics (and modern steam, too). That includes this very nice collection of photos of Cleveland's Terminal Tower, including many I haven't seen until now:

The wonderful world of model railroading--limited only by your imagination. I have a G-scale Alco RS-3 which came painted for SP, and I relettered it for Pacific Electric.

Model railroading is a wonderful hobby, and a good "gateway drug" to those interested in preservation.

One of the great parts of model railroading is that you can see all kinds of things in scale models that you'll never see in real life.

probably 90% of all model trains ever made have incorrect paint schemes, for the prototype of the model..the unofficial motto of all model train manufacturers might as well be: "if it will sell, paint it up!"..prototype accuracy is simply not a concern, in most cases..

Hey Scotty! I actually have one of those Conrail 4-6-2's that I completely remodeled into R&N's 4-6-2 #425 in its transitional phase between BM&R and R&N. I lettered the tender Reading Blue Mountain and Northern as she was when she visited Steamtown's grand opening. I added about $200.00 worth of parts and kitbashed a new aux water tender but is more current than the old ex-PRR one. This is a fine runner from Tyco so I decided to get another one.
My next project with this engine is making an ex-FEC #148 that ran in Whippany NJ in the '70's. Should be interesting!

We could consider my favorite set of paint jobs on non-prototype cars, San Francisco Muni's "F" line fleet of "tribute" PCC cars. For example, Muni 1061 is an ex SEPTA PCC in a Pacific Electric color scheme. It's a single end, St. Louis built all electric car. PE's PCCs were a unique double end with center doors configuration, built by Pullman, and air-electric. But being a life-long PE fan, I still enjoy seeing it running on Market St. or rolling along the Embarcadero. PE had 30 PCCs, which only ran there for about 15 years; none of them have been preserved. The tribute car has been running in MuniLand for over 17.
