Odd to think of Amtrak as a railroad with a 40 year history but

Well, this might explain why they have rebuffed/refused to cooperate with amateur preservationist efforts to have a formal "Amtrak Historical Society". If they can do this professionally, and with polish, more power to them. There certainly should be plenty of material out there for them to draw on.
