On behalf of a friend:

In the southern California area, just to alert collectors, museums, yard-salers, etc.

A storage locker in Redlands, California, was broken into and cleaned out of collectible lamps, auto parts, and tools. Specifically, two Long Island Rail Road marker lights, complete with oil pots, lenses, and chimneys. One painted red, the other painted yellow. In addition, two switch stand lamps, no targets, one NYC, the other Espee. Other items stolen included parts and tools for a Model "T" Ford and antique Packard.

If approached to buy these items, please contact the police immediately. The LIRR lanterns are most prized amongst these items.

Any help is appreciated.

I wish they're was something we could do to prevent robberies, cause I'm getting tired of living in a world were a lot of people steal a lot of things, and to be frank; probably cashing it in for drugs. I hope the items are returned/found.

We call them jails. We have many people living there - more to come, it sounds like.

Cory, I think people will always be inclined towards theft, whether it's railroad antiques or jewelry, so long as the system allows a certain level of drug trafficking and ignorant people continue to the circle of excuses and non-parenting. The best thing you can do is get an education, and take responsibility for your actions. The posting is meant to inform the honest railroad collecting public. Thanks for reading this short thread.

Eh, too modern....besides, electricity costs money. We've already spent way too much on criminals, all the while families starve and are living on the streets.

I was tempted to weigh in with a few of my "Just appoint me Supreme Dictator and I'll straighten things out" ideas, but then thought--we're getting a bit far afield from railway preservation. Let's wrap this up before one of the moderators throws a penalty flag and calls "Time Out". (I would consider the original posting "on-topic" because it involved railroad artifacts)
