Milwaukee Road 261 was under steam today, and looking great. I wasn't there, but Jeff Terry has some pictures on his Facebook acount. Hopefully he'll wander in here and upload some.

Nice to hear that the old gal is back up and on her feet soon to be riding the rails once again.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

She looks amazing. 261 ranks at the top of my list with Santa Fe 3751 for my favorites. They really did an awesome job. Anyone know if they found any issues during the test fire? And here is another pic from railpictures.net

The test fire went very well, and no major problems were found, just the usual minor annoyances like steam fitting leaks, a blown gasket to replace, and an inoperable air horn which needs cleaning.

Are there plans for a break-in trip or at least some local break-in operations?
