Several volunteer's finished up a speeder and flat car just prior to Railfest. It does run and will be housed next to 6039. Future plan is to re-paint the hand crane and will make a nice static display.

Is the speeder operational?

If it's operational - why on Earth would it be made into a static display?

Seems like a great opportunity to further show more working railroad equipment and scenarios while at the same time a superb way to offer something unique to museum patrons. Charge 25 bucks and run it in the yard!

Has Steamtown ever considered a speeder car day? Or would that be more under the direction of the DL, in regards to running the "shuttle" route?

Not sure the exact plans but it does run and I would be she will be out and about during Railfest and stuff like that. With the dual track usage with DL I would guess that it would be hard to run on the mains.

Unless I miss-understood the original post, the hand crane is not pictured and it, a single item, will be painted for the display. The motor car operates and may be used occasionally.

Sorry Harry I did mean that the hand crane will be part of this set and be on display. It will all be used on occasions.

I am glad to see they got it done. I was there a month or so ago and Doug had just installed the new drive belt. The roof wasn't on it yet.

As far as a speeder trip or display there is a trip on the Delaware-Lackawanna occuring this weekend. After the Sunday trip and we are off the D-L rails some attendess will be going to Steamtown for a tour.
