The saga continues per the below newspaper link. Not sure how serious this is (there have been many court orders associated with this) but perhaps its worth contacting the trust and offering to help out with some sort homes for the good stuff.

I think this gets a bit dicey. Other museums/organizations/individuals might be interested in certain items to see that they're saved and not scrapped, but to make an effort while the Trust is still trying to work out something, might be construed the wrong way.

The mayor's position is not up for election for another year or two, I forget which off hand. So, either November 2013 or 2014.

Maybe my math is off, but I doubt the Pemberton crew can keep funding the legal proceedings unless someone either a)writes a check to cover the costs or b)calls a recall election (which I'd assume is out of the question at the moment). Maybe a referendum for the township denizens is in order? Better let them decide, considering all I've heard is everyone except Mayor Patricia wants the museum at the Pemberton station.

Three council positions are up for grabs this November. Rick Prickett who is supporting the trust, Diane Stinney, who is not supporting the trust, and Sherry Scull who has not supported the trust and keeps saying she cannot vote because she is a trustee, which from what I understand is not true. She has no monetary gains to be had so she can indeed vote one way or the other. By her not voting, it has come down to a tie vote. (If she really supported the trust, she could resign her position as trustee and vote for them.) The other two council members and the mayor are not up for re-election this year. As JR said, they come up in 2013 or 2014.

From what has been told to me, Rick's position is pretty solid since, unlike the others, he has listened to the voters who have come out meeting after meeting to support the trust. Diane and Sherry have stiff competition from the Republicans and I seriously doubt either will make it to another term since they have decided to go against the wishes of the voters. Although Diane is seeing the writing on the wall and has softened her position, she still has not come out in support of the trust. She is playing politician. I think she is toast in November.

There have been discussions of the fate of the trust at many council meetings and in all of those meetings, there has been only one dissenting voice, that of the mayor.

Later!
Mr. Ed

Yeah, good luck with that strategy.

Two comments:

1. I agree that it's not a good strategy, but your comment will never reach the PTHT Board of Trustees. They are not here and never will be.

2. The article makes no mention of the illegal dumping by the Township on the land they want to acquire from the County. Environment groups, from the local Pinelands Preservation Alliance on up, will sue to stop the property transfer until there is a clean up. And yes, there are wetlands involved.

You must keep in mind that the blue drums, ties, and rails were tucked away down the trail and moved forward by the township. The ties were bundled and the ties stacked neatly. The ties are now scattered in two different locations. One being the ties the township had no need for, (the ones visible in the picture) and the other pile is the remnants of the ones they did use. What did they use them for, you ask? They used the best ones along with a lot of our steel angle iron to make dikes around thier sand and stone piles. And here I thought it was illegal to use railroad ties in landscaping duty in New Jersey. I guess that only pertains to the citizens of New Jersey, not municipalities. The rail was also moved to the front and dumped.

And his eyesore arguemnet doesn't hold water. We had 8-10 volunteers working on painting the small diesel along with general yard work when the police threw us out. Seems they were watching the place to make sure we didn't set foot on the premises. But it was OK for a scrapper (who is rumored to be the son of a friend of his majesty) to come in and steal some historically significantly artifacts and scrap them without interference from the police. If it hadn't been for a police force a town or two over, they never would have caught the guy. With his multiple offenses, he is still out on the streets and one can only wonder what he is doing for a living. So we ar out five switch heads dated in the late 1890s.
