Well the summer work season is finished and car 57 and caboose 2516 benefit, Today it was caboose in the morning, a brief spell working on the C&S narrow gauge layout at the Cheyenne depot and Car 57 this afternoon.
The caboose has had the fascias and drip rails replaced on the cupola and is now ready to have the roof re sheeted. Windows are being replaced / restored we obtained 7 good bodyside windows from caboose 2455, and all the glass for the whole project is being donated FOC from BW Glass in Cheyenne. We await the internal stiffening frames to assist in keeping the body rigid, then the rest of the roof can be rebuilt.
Car 57 has had the entire south side Cupola sealed and all the wood replaced between the windows, two new stove stacks have been built and installed and we have the 1890 car stove on the East end and the Depot stove on the West end ready to be fired up for some cosy, boozy evenings !! ( i mean work sessions).

Thanks for the report.

I recall a few years ago you had your eye on a few steel boxcar bodies that were out in a field. Any chance you might be able to bring one or both of them back to your work site?

Yes we did have an eye on them and they are still on the wish list, however they would be great for the proposed rolling stock museum in Cheyenne which is still 5 years out, and we only want to move them once !
