Mystery Locomotives from 1966

These 2 mystery locomotives were in transit on the Northern Pacific Railway at Livingston, MT in 1966.

Can anyone identify them?

No guarantee, but seeing as there aren't that many 2-6-2T locos in North America, I'm wagering a hefty sum that this is your match for the closer loco: Mason County Logging #7, now reported at Willits, California:

Cross-referencing with The Gospel According to St. Conrad (Steam Loco Directory of North America), I find Canadian Collieries 14, former Union Collieries of B.C./Wellington #4, a 4-6-0 at Snowqualmie/Puget Sound Railway Museum in the same time period (moved there ca. 1960). SteamLocomotive.COM lists this as still being in Snoqualmie, but SteamLocomotive.INFO doesn't list it.

But Google and RRPictureArchives.net come through for us with a 2011 photo:

Given the information above and Livingston's location, I see one of two possibilities: either the Livingston, Montana ID on the photo is in error, or both locos were moved there in the 1960-ish time frame for restoration at Livingston to operation for the Puget Sound operation.

I pulled a number of searches under the c/n and other singular bits of data that somehow came up empty when I ran them........... oh, well......

Thanks for the quick answers.

The 1966 date is solid, the location is not.

From other pictures in the series, I see the 2 locomotives and at least 2 passenger cars.

So my guess is on their way to Snoqualmie, WA via the NP in 1966.

The photographer lived in Othello, WA (worked for MILW).

HudsonL, could you post the other photos from the series? I might be able to identify which coaches they are and if they are still at Snoqualmie.
