This is a non-scientific poll question designed to allow everyone a chance to foam in the new year.

So far, this ballot hasn't worked for 5 tries. Just mark me option 1.

First, for some technical reason unknown to me, polls don't work on our site... sorry, its not likely to be fixed soon...

Secondly, as the original post said it is...
Quote:
designed to allow everyone a chance to foam in the new year.
We are a site about railroad preservation... not about rail fan issues or foaming...

Discussion about what paint will be used, on the issues of choosing a paint livery for this and other excursion locomotives, on how to prep the surface for painting... all welcome... Foaming not so much... I recommend Trainorders for such...

Can't get the voting machine to work (sound familiar?) so put me down for Southern Freight Black.

Kentucky and Tennessee - it's different and, using high quality vinyl letters, it could be quickly changed over to Southern black. Changing it every so often would keep the daisy pickers and foamers interested while not requiring a full repaint.

I dont care what color she gets painted in, as long as the smoke box is a darker color then that bright silver! Its just a personal opinion but the dark graphite color just looks better! But I definitely like Newarkbranch's idea! So I guess you will just have to put me down for black paint with the option to change between the two lettering schemes!

Southern black, as delivered. You can always go to green and gold later.

Hell, if we can have "Who is cool?" and "Best Movie Crash", then why not this thread? I (sorta) joke! My vote would be for Southern freight paint. I understand that the Southern passenger paint is a more familiar sight and it was worn during a significant period of the locomotive's history. However, if TVRM is restoring and preserving the locomotive as Southern 4501, then she should wear the same paint she wore while in the ownership of Southern Railway.

I concur with the as delivered paint scheme. The locomotive spent a great deal of time in the Southern Green and Gold, but as a museum piece now, it should represent the preservation side of the issue and be restored to it's original appearance.

Jeff -

I think Mark was strictly talking about PAINT (and lettering) schemes, and thus black as delivered in 1911. I don't know if the 4501 had a "high" headlight as delivered, or other things that the Southern might have have changed along the way before she was sold to the K&T in 1948.

Probably not as my overall experience with steam locomotives is somewhat limited. However, I still think the original paint scheme is the correct one. Especially considering it now belongs to a museum.

Do three phases, five years for each phase. Southern Freight first, K&T, and Southern Green.
