At the Tod Engine Heritage Park the only surviving GE 70 tonner center cab began its cosmetic restoration and conversion into a stationary DC power source, and the only surviving "as built" Kling type hot metal car was restored to its "as delivered" appearance.

Bob,

You can go to Youtube and type in WW&FRy Victorian Christmas 2012 to hear this whistle. To hear a whistle from the same pattern as mentioned by Wayne, type in CNJ 113 Maiden Voyage. You can compare the tones from lower and higher pressure boilers. The guys at the WW&F generally don't blow the whistle full out. The dimensions for this three chime whistle are just a little different than the "regular" three chime whistles.

We made this whistle because we couldn't buy or borrow the original I measured many years ago and we wanted a CNJ three chime step top whistle. The railroad must have scrapped them after removing them from the locomotives at Eport. I heard of two more in existence but don't know where they are now. 113's original whistle is probably in existence somewhere.

The bowl/valve assemblies for the replica whistles were made by Jeff Hosford in Simi Valley, California.

Is anyone from St. Louis Museum of Transportation on-line? (Ron Goldfeder)? I would love to hear a quick status update on the cosmetic restoration of Wabash 2-6-0 #573 at the MOT. A photo would be great to see if anyone has one. I realize the project is just getting started, and I also realize that there was stifling heat last summer that slowed everyone down. But any bit of news would be very welcome.

PS. I donated to the 573 fund last year, so am asking out of sincere interest in this project. By the way, a word of thanks: you guys at MOT do some great work.

I'm in France visiting family but can tell you that the Wabash Mogul was separated from its tender some months ago and is now inside the shop at the museum being worked on regularly. The jacket is off and so are some of the appliances. I'll be back home next week and can post some photos I took recently. Sorry I missed your inquiry earlier.

Dear Ron,
No apologies needed. I should apologize for being impatient.
I have family roots in France as well (village east of Paris along the Marne River). Have a good time over there.
No hurry on posting the photos.
