I never seen anything like that before. Thank you for posting that link. Fascinating.

Steve;

You are welcome. Re-reading my own page, I noticed the following:

Quote:
During it's stay in the USA it may have been exhibited, along with other captured German equipment, at the Chicago Railroad Fair

You are apparently the one with the answers -- was 19.1001 exhibited, along with the 42 class? Looking at what you have posted so far, the answer appears to be no.

I only know what the literature contains. I have yet to go through my Dad's photos and his photo log book where he recorded dates, cameras, settings and subject matter of each photo.

Steve - I have put your CB&Q booklet in my RR Fair web site, and will add the RI soon. Thanks for being willing to share these materials.

You are more than welcome. I know my Dad would be thrilled that someone was enjoying what he saved. I also have the 1949 Rock Island pamphlet plus Illinois Central, Pennsylvania, Santa Fe, Electro Motive Diesel, etc. . . . any preference as to which is next?

Let's go with the IC (might show some steam).

I found four Illinois Central pamphlets, none of which refer to the Fair. I suspect that the IC was handing them out at the fair and that my Dad picked them up.

This is the back cover. Only 4 pages. No steam, just diesel as with the other three IC pamphlets. Apparently the IC thought that presenting its newest diesels would project the image of a modern railroad with modern comfort and speed rather than steam locomotives.

This is the complete pamphlet, a small one.
