One of the two G5s steam locos of Pennsy design, preserved on Long Island. Originally placed in Nassau County's "Salisbury Park", later "Eisenhower Park", repainting was undertaken by the L.I. Sunrise Trail N.R.H.S. We scraped, primed, and repainted the loco into what was our best approximation of her service colors in the"the day". The loco was cleaned, greased, oiled, and was left in better shape than when it was undertaken. Sadly, it was disassembled and moved for rebuild and then...lost steam. Stored on a siding, it was vandalized and left derelict for years. At last the Oyster Bay Rail Road Museum was formed, and she was taken to secure stored in parts. With funding basically in place, she awaits the call to rebuild her as a service locomotive once again.

Allow me to add once more, sister 39 remains partly at Strasburg, partly at RR Mus. of Long Island. Both locomotives are destined to run again. Whichever is your choice, I urge you to write a check to whichever museum, and specify it's for the steam fund. The only blocks to a pair of running G5's are the final completion expenses.
