Here's me age 5 in December? 1976 with American Freedom Train #1 (Ex Reading T1 #2101) in Albany, NY.

I can't speak for your age, but I'm going to say that photo is from April 1975 (Yes, 1975, not 1976.)

Looking at the AFT schedule, the second display site they ever visited was Albany, and that was April 6th to 9th, 1975.

The train did come through Selkirk in 1976, but it was on a deadhead move from Morristown to Milford, CT. and wasn't open for public display. We did stop in/near Selkirk for a day or so to repair some spring rigging. Even so, this can't be from then, due to the paint scheme shown on the loco. The scheme shown in your photo is the original quick paint job early in the train's journey.

Now I will grant you that I don't recall where 2101 was at in Dec '76, but I don't think it was Albany. In any case, the paint scheme is incorrect. It definitely didn't look like that in December 76, wherever it was parked. (Maybe at HICO HQ or possibly Hagerstown?)

1) Nasty retube job at QARR in mid 1990's
2) More current with some extra large safety valves

QARR???
Please don't use initials if possible as not everybody will know what line you are talking about.

Queen Anne's RR, Lewes, Delaware; that's ex-Navy 0-6-0T #3 behind him.

For additional humor, I think that's a blue Delaware "seashore access" license plate (for off-road 4WD vehicles for surf fishing) on the buffer beam....

Correct!

My fireman was a surf fisherman, and got a new plate. This was his old plate, which he was going to throw away. As the line has a swing bridge over a canal, one day we pulled up to the open bridge for a little while and threw some poles/lines in the water.

Don't ask about the 6' tall stuffed "Bugs Bunny" we found in a dumpster. He rode in the fireman's seat for several trips, especially if there were railfans chasing......

I'd send a few pics to put a face with the moniker but I can't get them downsized enough. I can start an overloaded steam locomotive on a grade but can't figure out how to downsize a pic....

Here a shot from a few years back. I was fortunate to be allowed to run a trip on the SP&S 700's Christmas Trains. She's a bit larger than logging locos I usually work with. ;)

It's nice seeing so many photos where the people are actually partaking in restoration/preservation efforts.

Here's a flick of me taken this summer, where the only thing I was trying to preserve was my sanity. Didn't work.-Jeffrey

Scary to think that my face has been breaking railfan cameras for 20 years...

1. Me and my friend Scott in New Haven, Indiana taking a break from polishing NKP 765's backhead. March 2012

2. Again with the 765, this time at Conway Yard on August 20, 2012.

3. And of course, when I'm not around the 765, they pay me to play choo choo.

I decided I needed to make a subtle change to my wife's artwork to make me more recognizable to RyPN readers who might see me trackside in a "Rule G" environment. Look carefully. That took me long enough; I'll wait for my wife to try to change the mug to a Nikon D40X with pro grip case.....

Well, maybe not quite so wild-eyed. And that does leave me ample room for "disguises" of various sorts, such as overalls, suspenders, "Groucho nose glasses" converted to safety eyewear and dust mask, a glass/cup of soda, Stetson hat, etc. should I wish to remain incognito..... after all, I do occasionally have to do bar/restaurant reviews for publications.

Or maybe just switching to the New Haven, Western Maryland, Reading, or Seaboard belt buckle will do the trick.
