I was just informed that the Texas II at stone mountain park in Georgia was just loaded onto a flat bed and headed to Knoxville TN. Apparently it will see life on the three Rivera rambler railroad. Anyone have pics of the trip, would love to see them.

Way to make use of a crane on site! Best wishes, guys - she's a beautiful fast commuter engine with classical lines.

Glad to hear the Texas II is headed for a better future as well.

If it is indeed going to the Three Rivers in Knoxville, that's also good news. They only ran a handful of trips last year and most of those were diesel. In fact I don't think the recently shopped Southern engine ran at all in 2012.

Dave -

If the Consolidations (154 and 203) did not run this past season, the addition of the 4-4-0 is a rather curious addition to their roster. Let's hope that the reason for not running steam was not due to mechanical problems of the 2-8-0's.

For the record, Texas II is a "modern" 4-4-0, not built until 1922 for the San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railway as their number 60. It ended up on the Texas & New Orleans (Southern Pacific Lines) as their number 220, and later as number 260 before being sold to Paulsen Spence for his Louisiana Eastern.

I know the 203 did run a few Christmas trains, but that was the extent of it.

Are we sure on this movement as this engine was still at Stone Mountain yesterday when the 110 gang left?

Given the timing of this thread, I wonder if the game of "railfan telephone" morphed the 110 into the Texas II, and New Hope Valley into Three Rivers Rambler.

Will, why not just tell everyone where this engine actually headed ???

Cliffside RR #110, which was Texas II for a time while at Stone Mountain, was purchased by the New Hope Valley RR in Bonsal, NC a year ago. They finally took delivery this week.

Check this other thread if you'd like to see the original story about where she headed.

The 4-4-0 at Stone Mountain is called the "Texas II". That's the subject of debate. I thinking the 110 was called something else for the brief period of time that she was running there---Yonah II maybe??

The 110 was called the Yonah II while in service at Stone Moutain

Sorry, Bob.....not exactly.

110 - the 2-6-2 was called Yonah II. 60, the 4-4-0 was Texas II. New Hope Valley worked with Stone Mountain for almost 2 years before acquiring 110 by donation. The announcement of the agreement was posted on this board on the day it was finalized, about 2 months ago. 110 was moved to Bonsal, NC this week and is happy there, waiting for some loving care.

I'm sure the exact situation concerning 60 can be discovered by talking to the responsible parties involved, if they are inclined to answer.

My thanks to all for not dragging my butt over the grates too harshly over this senior moment.

Now, let me reserve the right to insert my other foot at any time.

I asked a friend who works in the shop at Stone Mtn. and Texas II is still at the mountain. She is not going to Knoxville.

Interesting how these rumors go around. I had heard the same thing earlier in the day from one person, then someone on facebook (affiliated with three rivers) said something about it was spotted heading north and then the original post on this thread.

Guess it happens......Jason

I figured the 4-4-0 going to Knoxville was too good to be true. After the Three Rivers cut back on steam ops last year, this story just didn't fit.

Now, if Al Harper wanted to lease the Southern 154 for the GSMR, I'd be first in line to buy a ticket! April 1st isn't too far away!
