Aux Tenders

first, only the engine was turned on turntables.(I own a model) the tenders did not turn,
Water connections went both ways on the tenders, even its aux aux tender, just hook the proper line up and your off.

I would have to check on the extra aux tender, I don't call its tender an aux tender, it is its official tender.

Worked beautifully -- the principal problems were with the boiler feed pump, and the alignment and bedding of the turbine.

If you have not read Louis Newton's Rails Remembered v.4, Tale of a Turbine, do so now. All your questions can probably be answered there as well as here.

Also look up TIA (Traitement Integral Armand) for more explanation about how this treatment works and what the 'desirable' effect of the chemical changes is.

Porta, and then Shaun McMahon, have done a further refinement of water treatment, and I encourage you to read up on it.

It's worth mentioning that all feedwater supplied to N&W locomotives was treated in their storage tanks prior to being fed to the locomotive tenders. No. 2300, with its 600 PSIG water tube boiler (twice the pressure of conventional N&W modern steam), required the additional water treatment provided by the equipment in its tender.
