The Great Plains Transportation Museum will be deaccessing Arkansas Valley Interurban Car #12. Improvements to the downtown area around the museum area are compelling us to clean up our back 40 as we proceed with a site development project. We have to move AVI #12 around the site to make way for various phases of construction. Our preference is to have it off the property and donated to a party that has the resources and capabilities to preserve it.
AVI #12 is available as is-where is. This is a car body only with no trucks or brake rigging. Our desire is not to sale car 12, but to donate it to a party interested in its preservation. Any individual or organization is welcome to offer. Non-profit organizations will receive first consideration, but all are welcome to submit a request. Please include in your request a brief synopsis of your plan, and resources and capabilities available to achieve your goals.
AVI #12 was built by the American Car Company in 1917. In 1938 it was converted to a box motor. After retirement, it was purchased for storage. The museum saved the car and brought it to the property.
The acquisition of the carbody will also include an original leather seat.
