She'll look great in her original dark green coat.

Yup! I think I'm digging that green. Did you notice the modern touch done to the journals?

Forgive my ignorance, but am I looking at a weld? Or is that just the edge of the metal (where Steve is talking about the journal)?

Steve,
Nothing modern about the lube lines, 2102, 759, 3713 and others at the park have them, just a maintenance upgrade for 26.

Didn't the nay-sayers state that this wasn't going to happen because of budget cut-backs?

She looks great so far. That's a terrific shade of green for the engine. Gonna be one pretty locomotive.

Mike for 26 that in my book is a modern touch. I think it's a very smart and well thought of idea. Should save some work down the road. The shop added oil lines to the top of the journals to help with lubrication. I'm not sure if it will be pressurized or not. Eitther way the shop workers have thought ahead to ease their work load. :)

Steve,
Only the center one goes to the journal, the outer ones are for the shoe and wedge. The 26 was built with oil cellars, originally equipped with waste packing. The waste and or pad has been replaced with an Armstong Oiler arrangement built by some very fine gentlemen from across the pond. Initial thoughts are of using a one shot oiler system (along the lines of a Bijour) for the journal bearings at the start of each day and a small mechanical lubricator for the chassis lube.

Looks good. Is the goal to bring the 26 back for 2014, or Railfest in September this year? Would be nice to see some Steam at Steamtown. Heard 3254 is out and might be down until it's rebuild comes up. Not sure if that's true too...

The general consensus is that 3254 will be down for the foreseeable future. We're all hoping and praying 26 will be done sometime this summer, but we'll see.
