The Southern Michigan Railroad Society is looking for volunteers!

Especially if you want to be an engineer, conductor, brakeman or ticket agent, you don't want to miss the upcoming orientation and training. It's coming up this Saturday, March 23, at 9am. For those familiar with SMRS, it is not at the usual location. It's at the new and future site, on the south end of town at 301 W. Bartlett, Clinton, Michigan. (Clinton is on US-12 west of Ypsilanti.)

SMRS owns the 13.5 mile New York Central Jackson Branch railroad. Now, via a sister organization, it has joined a rare elite of railroad museums which own a significant site. Why is this a big deal? Carbarns, shops, visitor amenities, if you read RyPN you've heard the discussion on that. This is your chance to see and tour the site yourself and discuss possibilities with other members.

Cost is $7.00 to cover lunch and materials. You'll also want to be a Southern Michigan Railroad member, which is $25.00 for the entire year. (It's required to operate on the railroad due to insurance.)
