I was out and about last week on the Delmarva Peninsula and look what I found.


This is an Interurban Car from Dallas, Texas rebuilt as a motorcar. It looks like a very good renovation.

Nobody was around to ask but the damage is probably minor. The car is used as a dinner train and excursion car. Their URL is below. Anybody ride it?

Hmmm, looks like somebody didn't adequately account for wind loads.

That's why you should never have all you can eat bean and burrito banquets next to the carbarn.

I had heard this operation shut down? Beautiful Car. Wasn't this one of the "new" Edwards Motors rebuilds?

Their website apparently believed in the Mayan apocalypse theories, as it stops at the end or 2012.

The ONLY things keeping that shed upright were inertia and the diagonal braces between the uprights and rafters. I wouldn't have walked through that thing, let alone stored something nice in it.

I've been through Cape Charles but have never seen the operation running. I talked to a local who said the food was really good but was really disappointed that the entire ride was right next to the road. They felt like it was not worth the money. I know the railroad has no control of the tracks being next to the road. I give them credit for trying.

The structure looks brand new. I'll bet it came with at least a third wall (if not all four),that would have provided cross bracing and rigidity. It's obvious why that was left out.
They could still use it, just pull it back up, replace the bent parts and brace the exterior. Might want to think about anchoring it down too.
