BNSF generously provides "a lift" for the Museum of the American Railroad equipment. The only remaining pieces are the Frisco "Meteor" 4501, U.P. 4018, and an ex-CNR F7A, painted up as an AT&SF Warbonnet.

Bet you never thought you'd see a GG1 move again? :-)

I'm glad this move didn't depend on CSX and their cooperation. If so, it would not have happened. Thanks BNSF.

I was in Dallas a few weeks ago and took this "phone" photo at the old location. It was obvious that some equipment had been moved but these prized pieces were still waiting. I am hopeful that good things will happen in Frisco.

Someday a GG1 might finally make it to The Henry Ford museum in Michigan.

BNSF put out their own video about the move. Smart PR and good use of social media.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

I believe helicopters, helium balloons, or a lake freighter may be involved if it does. >;-)

If the Ford Motor Company wanted it to happen it would.

Ford Motor Co. and the museum aren't affiliated with each other.

Big Boy suppose to move in 1st part of May, as I understand. Ten ties must be replaced before it can move and that will be done tomorrow. When it does move, the movement will be on a Sunday as that is when the rails used by Trinity Rail Express are open and other traffic is lighter than any other day. It may require a stopover in Irving before the final move to Frisco.

Last Sunday's move left Fair Park mid-morning and went straight through to Frisco with only safety checks on some of the freight cars with friction bearings. The arrival in Frisco was after 8 PM, I think.
