How to move your E8.........

Station at Grants Mills. Interesting way to move and relocate the equipment. I realize the locomotive is but an empty shell.

That's exactly how they moved the California Western 56 (Baldwin RS-12) into Travel Town around 2 decades ago and it still had everything inside.

My Caboose was moved in much the same fashion but I never gave much thought as to moving a locomotive using the same methods.

I just had a really good laugh imagining an E8 driving down I-95 with tires like that.

We moved coaches into the Connecticut Trolley Museum that way about 25 years ago. It was a mess though. We really did not have the correct gear. Tools and winches were breaking. It was risky.

The entire former Fremont Dinner Train was moved this way last November.
It is up and running as the Kansas Belle Dinner Train in Baldwin City, Kansas.

Nice to see this E8 being "saved", but it's a far cry from where it was 25 years ago when it was restored to full operation. Just goes to prove that no restoration is permanent!
