I'm Frank Reese, motorman, timekeeper, and occasional shop hand for the PA Trolley Museum. I miss L&RP, but check this board almost daily and appreciate the service it renders to us.

I'm Tom Shreve, Senior Engineer at the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad in Felton, California. I try to look in every day just to see what everyone is discussing.

Jim Butler, me, has been a member of the St. Louis Steam Train Association since the beginning, 1987. I have been involved in all three restorations and ongoing maintenance of the SLSF 1522. Since my retirement, I have been a vollunteer at the Museum of Transport. I have managed several projects, The GM&O car 5998, the TRRA engine 318, and the diner "Silver Spoon." And of course I have been a helper on numerous other projects.
I have been very lucky to have the collection of the MOT near me. I will have projects to work on till I no longer can move. There has been tremendous improvement in the collection at MOT by vollunteers and cooperation between Museum staff and vollunteers. I keep warm in the winter by reading the "Flame responses." I sometimes post questions on my current project, and answer questions on projects similar to what I have done.

36 years with Orange Empire Ry Museum. Former Public Relations Manager, but owning/operating private railroad passenger cars has changed my network from museum-specific (vertical) to passenger car department (horizontal) and now includes Golden Gate Railroad Museum (SP 2472, San Francisco) and Santa Clara Valley RR Historical Society (SP 2479, San Jose) besides OERM.

OERM regulars used to (may still) meet on Wednesdays between work party weekends to exchange advice, suggest vendors, and do project planning away from the distractions of the site crisis of the day. RyPN Interchange does that same job and more! It's like attending an ARM, AAPRCO, or RPCA convention every morning. I click this bookmark every lunchtime at work.

I guess I'm most affiliated with Mid-Continent Railway Museum, although I don't get there to help out very often. I spend a lot more time passing on information between members of various organizations. My actual railroad preservation activities tend to focus more on my privately owned cars (a C&NW caboose, a C&NW (ex-RI) snowplow, a Burlington jordan spreader, and part interest in a few other cars).
I visit this site multiple times every day (unless I'm out of town), and try to pass on as much information as I can either to the list, or from the list to others who don't read it.
I know there are at least a couple more Mid-Continent members who read this list also, although we don't hear from them very often.

Hi,

I have read both L.& R.P. and the web version for many years.

I was formally involved with the Seashore Trolley Museum (and continue to be a memeber and supporter) for 30 + years, and currently am employed by the City Of San Francisco and oversee the maintenance functions of the "F" (Vintage ) streetcar line.

I enjoy reading the postings as they relate to either issues concerning streetcars, safety issues, and eastern postings.

Sincerely,

Karl Johnson

Jim Lundquist - active with the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum for around 25 years. I've held various positions up and down the line.

I find this site extremely helpful for not having to reinvent the wheel each time we run across a problem area.

I am another of the Pacific Locomotive Association/Niles Canyon Railway steam department volunteers. While I have been working on and firing/running steam engines for PLA for over 20 years, I check this site often because there are so many more knowlegable people here that I can learn from. I feel the time is long past for any of us to try to operate in a vacuum. We all need each other, and besides, what better way to get to know other people in the field and what they are doing?
