Over the weekend of June 15-16th, vandals did serious damage to the windows of the East Broad Top Railroad's Orbisonia Station.

Daniel Gilliland has temporarily secured the building and the Friends of the East Broad Top (FEBT) will be making permanent repairs this coming weekend, during the next FEBT Rockhill Furnace Work Session. For information on donating to the FEBT, see the Friends of the East Broad Top's Donation Page.

I heard second hand, that the 14 year old person responsible for this damage was caught and will be prosecuted.

I am very sorry to hear about this. We had come out to ride the May 25th Horseshoe Curve trip and stopped by the station on our way back home on Sunday. We remembered the better times out there going back to the 1960's when my parents first took us out there. I looked in the station windows and everything was still left inside the way I remembered it. I am hoping that this was just a random incident.

That's sad, but not wholly unanticipated. I hope they catch and hang the little bastard.

Unfortunately, there's not much for the kids to do out there in Rockhill, so they resort to petty crime for entertainment. (I know, I graduated with them) I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more vandalism on the EBT.

Also, Kudos to FEBT and Danny G. for securing things so fast.

Make him fix the windows (or help the repair person doing it)

Then he'll learn a real trade. Congrats Mr. new glass man.

Earlier this evening (June 22, 2013), Lee Rainey sent out this Friends of the East Broad Top (FEBT) Work Session Special Report:

Lee Rainey wrote:
Vandals attacked the East Broad Top station in Rockhill last weekend, smashing screens and as many as three window panes each in six of the big four-pane windows, as well as kicking two screen doors into pieces.

Today the Friends of the EBT work crew replaced all the broken windows, repaired and reinstalled several of the screens (the paint on the rest has to dry overnight), and began work on fabricating new screen doors. We'll finish the job tomorrow.

Friendship means standing by your friend when it is in trouble.

Thanks to the wonderful crew that worked hard to make this all happen.

President, Friends of the East Broad Top
